Q. Predictions for Apple Event on 9-9-08

Q. Can't wake screen from sleep?

Close PB wait for pulse - that might wake the screen.

Q. G5 loaded 10.5 - got sleep issues? Fans start to spin - then comes on.

  • When updating - try to use archive and install, you may have brought 10.4 existing issues with you on the upgrade.
  • Could be something else is going to fail causing fans to race to compensate.
  • Try an archive and install, install all updates

Q. Airport and concrete (something) wall making signal strength an issue. Is it possible to use an older airport base station (silver) as a remote?

No, get airport express to extend network. Discussion on the pro and cons of Apple products V others for routing, hubbing. If you know what you in for, go ahead and try other products. Apple wifi products work with Apple Airport Setup Utility

Q. Earthlink only offering support on their Linksys router - wants to have it work with airport.

Not worth the hassle.

Q. HP printer + download driver - not working

HP may not have released 10.5 drivers.


Q Possible to take down a partition w/o reformat? Utility, maybe.

Disk Utility does this now. PPC out of luck - intel only.

Q. iTunes problems, everyone seems to have different problems.

Next release will fix it :-D - seriously - always have a back up of iTunes library iPhoto library...

Q. Password issues - login password v. system (keychain) password out of sync - seemingly.

  • try to hand sync password, if not..
  • Use keychain utility to merge keychains.

Q. 2 iTunes libraries - how to merge.

  • Move library 1 to desktop
  • drag into iTunes using library 2
  • delete desktop version
